WTRNT Training Grant – Maddison Viney

Women in Thoroughbred Racing NT are proud to support Territory young-gun Maddison Viney as she heads to Sydney to complete an advanced and accelerated track-work course.

WTRNT chairperson Wendy Longuet said the association put $1000 towards Maddison’s studies, which will see her working closely with racing legends like Hugh Bowman and Kathy O’Hara to fine tune her riding skills and knowledge.

“We are so happy to support Maddison in her training to become a track rider and to help her through a course like this which is going to give her invaluable information to frame what’s sure to be a long and successful career in the racing industry,” Ms Longuet said.

“Her passion for the industry is clear, and we’re excited to see what knowledge she comes back with.”

The not-for-profit association was created 10 years ago with the aim of supporting women in a male-dominated industry.

“Our association was formed to do exactly this – help women be the best they can be in the thoroughbred racing industry,” Ms Longuet said.

“We are lucky and proud to do this, and we hope Maddison enjoys every moment in Sydney and we look forward to welcoming her back and hearing about all she’s learned.”
