Country Carnival

Trainers and Jockeys

Women in Thoroughbred Racing NT are proud of the
achievements of our female Trainers and Jockeys, especially over the Country
Carnival where they have excelled.  Thefollowing is a list of their wins:

Alice Springs
commenced on 5th May with a 7 race card and the ladies
certainly shined with the following results for day 1:

Race 1 – Red Centre Office Technology Class 6 over 1200m
Trainer Ms M Boothby had a win with Command Ruler.

Race 3 – Landmark Handicap over 1100m Trainer Ms L Lefoe had
a win with Sunday Psalm

Race 4 – Coleman’s Printing Cup over 1200m saw Ms L Hopwood
winning ride on Aquia Creek

Race 5 – Lawrence & Hanson Maiden Plate over 1000m was
won by Rampant Prince with Ms J Cameron on board.

Day 2, Monday 7th May was an 8 card event with a
few more wins:

Race4 – Queen of the Desert Handicap over 1200m was won by
Miss Iceland
and trained by Ms L Lefoe

Race 6 – Sky Racing Handicap over 1600m saw Ms M Neve
winning ride on MaxMa

Alice Springs was followed
by the Katherine Cup on Saturday 19th
May where 2 of our jockeys scored 3 wins:

Race 2 Handicap over 1100m, Ms J Cameron rode Lucerne Vale
for a convincing win and followed up in a more hotly contested Race 6 Katherine
Cup over 1300m on Tan Tat Jet.

Race 4 – Hanckel Moffatt Handicap over 1000m was won by
Explosive Kiss with Ms A Brown on board.

The Adelaide River
race meeting followed two weeks later on the 2nd June with a 7 card

Race 2 – Pattinsons ‘Have A Crack’ cup over 1000m was won by
Thumb Prints with Ms A Brown on Board.

Race  6 the Envirovank
Handicap over 1125m was won by Courting Magic, trained by Kerry Petrick and
owed by The Good The Bad and The Nag syndicate, and given the shouting
encouragement the owners made when ‘Courty’ came down the straight I’m led to believe
that the race caller couldn’t be heard over the noise

Some great wins already and now we turn to the 2012 Carlton
Mid Darwin Cup Carnival and wish all our Trainers and Jockeys good racing over
the next 6 weeks.
